Welcome Moe and other Winter events

Monday, January 26th, 2009

The weather outside looks a bit foreboding. Looks like we will be having another week of winter weather which is perfect for us here at To The Last Drop! I love cooking on cold blustery days and welcome you to stop in and warm yourself with some cocoa and pick up some soups and comfort foods to take home.

I even have a neighborhood cat to welcome you now. “Moe” who is a resident cat that lives in the village has decided to adopt my front porch as his new home - which is just fine with me. The most amazing part is that he arrived the day after our cat of twelve years, Smokey, passed away. I was heartbroken and then turned around and there was Moe- another gray cat that made me smile.

Funny how things happen- always makes me wonder if there are truly any coincidences in this world. This year, especially, has exhibited to me time and time again that there are reasons for our paths and for the people (animals) and opportunities that cross our paths.

I hope you will cross the path of To The Last Drop in some way or another- and if it is on a snowy day- there will be cocoa waiting for you, along with a new cat on the front porch to greet you.

Another Happy New Year to everyone now that I am officially open again for business. I hope your year is off to a happy and healthy start and I am anxious to return to cooking for you, teaching classes and catering your special events.

Our regular hours will resume on Tuesday, January 20th. I thank you for your understanding in the absence of our regular schedule and I treasured that time away with my family and my parents.

On my many recent flights, I invariably was placed next to seat mates with bags of McDonalds, Taco Bell, Panda Express and Burger King….food.

Not only did I end up smelling like all of the above when I arrived at my destinations but I had many thoughts about the role of food in our fast paced lives.

My seatmates provided me with even more determination to do my small part in providing healthy and fresh food for others and classes to inspire and create opportunity for you to get back in your kitchen and treat yourself to the best- fresh and healthy meals. Many of us work full time, travel and have very busy lives which create an enormous challenge of providing good nutrition.

I hope you will stop by To The Last Drop and pick up our class schedule, a meal or two for your family and allow yourself the gift of preparing a meal and sharing it with friends and family.

I will be in the kitchen, some old movie will be on or an episode of I Love Lucy, cocoa will be on the stove if the snow is falling, and good food will be waiting. I hope you will stop in- I will look forward to seeing you.

Happy New Year to You!

Thursday, January 8th, 2009

Happy New Year from everyone at To The Last Drop! I hope your holidays were filled with wonderful memories in the making, family, friends and of course….good food! I enjoyed being a part of many of your celebrations and sharing in the richness and warmth of the season.

I ask for your understanding as the shop will be closed this month until January 19th. While visiting my parents over the holidays, it became necessary for me to return and help them through some new challenges in their lives. I consider it a blessing to have such wonderful parents and to be able to have the opportunity to take care of them a bit as they have for me for many many years.

I am excited to begin a new year and all that is ahead. To The Last Drop will continue to provide weekly home cooking for you and your family as well as fun and informative classes, private dinners at the shop, and catering for your special events. I invite you to stop in and stay awhile, sip your cocoa on a winters snowy day, and pick up our menus, class lists, or a bit of lunch at work or dinner for home.

There will be new menu items as well as continued favorites and a selection of gifts and condiments for yourself or a favorite cook! Gift certificates are available for classes, dinners or Cuisine to Go items.

I look forward to returning later this month and resuming that which I love - cooking and caring for others. Until then, many blessings for a healthy and happy start to your New Year!
